Steel Fabrication Division

Collins & Hermann, Inc., Steel Fabrication Division, currently has the following positions available on day and night shifts:

Laborers
Required Skills:
• Must be able to read tape measure fluently
• Operate equipment (i.e. saws, drills, punch presses)
• Ability to operate cranes and forklifts
• Perform clean-up duties
• Supply welders and fitters with proper materials
• Assist as needed


Welders

Required Skills:
• Able to interpret weld symbols on shop prints
• Ability to pass 3G-GMAW (3/8” – 1”) certification test


Fitters
Required Skills:
• Must be able to interpret simple to complex blueprints
• Ability to pass 3G-GMAW (3/8”) certification test

Estimator/Project Manager

Job Description:
The primary duties of the Estimator/Project Manager is to develop new business clients, schedule and manage multiple steel fabrication projects, estimate cost to completion of management, oversee progress of projects through quality control inspections and documentation; while interacting professionally with staff and clients in this highly competitive field.

Required Skills:
• Individuals must have 3-5 years of experience in steel fabrication (including installation)
• Strong knowledge in Auto-Cad and Fabtrol
• A proven track record in estimating
• Ability to travel to project sites
• Capability to work independently, as well as part of a team
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Excellent time management, strategic planning, and forecasting skills
• Qualified applicants must have excellent computer software knowledge including: Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Timberline software, or other equivalent software programs

Class “C” Fitter

General Summary:

Fitters must have the ability to read an interpret drawings related to the fabrication of chain link gates. Fitters should have welding experience and will be required to pass a welding test.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Ability to read a tape measure
  • Operate basic shop equipment
  • Perform clean-up duties
  • Supply welders &fitters with material
  • Assist as needed
  • Able to tack weld & do light welding
  • Able to fabricate a standard commercial gate
  • Interpret simple blue prints/ sketches with little assistance
  • Assemble and weld simple products

The successful candidate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum 1 year welding/fitter experience
  • Ability to pass a 3G-GMAW (3/8”) welding test

Computer Skills:

None Required

Communication skills:

Ability to work in a team environment, where job deadlines must be adhered to.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no supervisory responsibility
